Finished... Finally!

The house with a thousand pieces is finally finished. After installing the porch railing and screen door, I built the roof over the porch. The last step was adding the steps and railing.

Some bushed and weeds were added around the base of the structure once it was planted in place.

Once the scenery in the foreground in the shot below is finished, I'll be able to shoot this next picture from a higher angle and eliminate the ceiling in the background.

This little house sure took an awfully long time to finish. But it's exactly the structure I wanted at this location and I've wanted to build it ever since I first saw it in the photo of the Clinchfield U36C. It's great to finally have it done.

  2. That is such a nice job Tom, the build, the weathering are all spot on. That bottom photo is so nice, your scenery relays pops.

Just wish I could visit your layout I think I'd spend hours just admiring the layout without operating on it.

  3. Tom,

Nice work on the House, the wood skirting makes the model. I have to ask what model manufacturer makes the pick up truck? I could really use a few 1970's pick ups for the layout but so far they have eluded me. I can manage to find every muscle car and odd european import for the 70's but a pick up truck...not a chance. It seams the 70's HO scale everyday vehicle selection is populated by what is flashy and sells rather than what the average person would own. Thanks in advance.

    1. Ryan,

Thanks for the kind words. The Ford pickup is a Neo Scale Models product. They make several nice vehicles for the 1970's including a Jeep Grand Wagoneer. There are usually listing for both on eBay. Also check out the Fresh Cherries line of vehicles on eBay. They made Pintos, Mavericks, Mustangs, Gremlins, and a number of other 1970 cars. Also, Reel Rides makes a 1972 Chevy pickup that's absolutely beautiful.

As an aside, I've been collecting vehicle models of cars I actually owned back then. In the banner photo for the blog, you can see a 1967 Opel Kadet and a 1968 Plymouth Fury. I was shocked to find the Opel. Now if I can only find a 1966 Corvair...
